My super creative clients, Julian (a writer/director) and Summer (a Hollywood costume designer) along with the AMAZING Amber (queen of fabulosity) of Amber Events created a true spectacle at Cicada Restaurant in Los Angeles. Summer is a costume designer and created her own Etsy shop where she creates custom ties using an image provided by her customers. This is a pin up picture of Summer in a tie that she created. So fun!

Summer practiced her surprise dance number while she was getting ready.

Julian's gift to Summer... s signed print from artist Tim Burton. Wow.

The briefcase??? It was Jerry Garcia's... a special item that belongs to Julian and carried the ring.

And, after a brief intermission, none other than Summer herself showed up to participate in some fabulous dancing and a huge surprise for Julian!

I love my clients. That goes without saying. These ones are awfully special though. Always smiling, so real and fun (and funny), and stinkin' adorable, too. (Right?) They were referred by a past bride (Megan) and I've been able to document their budding family from their pregnancy session, to their newborn pictures (and custom framed newborn fine art prints) and now their family/one-year pictures. I can't believe how big Bella is... and so adorable. I'm thinking she's coming up on two soon... looking forward to seeing this lovely family again soon... maybe a play date is in our future. ;)

This was an extended session... we started with documentary of getting ready (read: a fun bath in the sink) at home... then we headed over to the boardwalk/pier in Santa Monica... and finally we closed it all out with a smash the cake session back at their house. Such a fun day!

It took place at one of my favorite venues, Seven Degrees in Laguna Beach. And, as per usual, Erin did not disappoint. The show was a winter wonderland full of incredible dresses and accessories with some beautiful ladies on hand to show them off. Take a peak below and, if you're on the hunt for the perfect wedding gown or accessory look no further than Erin's boutique in Costa Mesa. (It's where I found my dress... oh so long ago). ;)

I hope this "lull" week between Christmas and New Years is bringing you some needed down time, an awakening, some introspection and clarity, and some time with those you love. I've been able to enjoy these this past week and look forward to more events with friends in the latter part of this vacation week, as well. In addition to spending time with others I hope you get to enjoy some time by yourself. Just you. The sun. The fresh air. And your thoughts. Filter out the Noise and find the Signal.

Expect a New Year's post next week with some thoughts on the coming year and a look back on the last one. Expect also to see some of the amazing, spectacular people that I shot over the last year who never quite made it to the blog. There's so much to share!

During Eader Elementary's morning assembly on November 18, 50 ukeleles were gifted to the school's music program on McKenna's behalf from her parents and the McKenna Claire Foundation. Her music teacher, sister and friends played a song on their ukeleles written just for McKenna in front of the entire school. It was emotional, touching and beautiful.
